Warsaw, Poland's capital since the late 16th century is by far the biggest and fastest developing Polish city. It is visited every year by thousands of tourists from all over the world, especially during the summer. Wroclaw, the capital of Lower Silesia (Dolny Slask) amazes with its volume of Gothic, Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture. Several musical and theatre festivals, as well as its busy nightlife, attract innumerable visitors from all over Poland and abroad. Krakow is probably the most beautiful and fascinating city in Poland. The attraction is not just the splendid architecture and the treasures of art, but also the unique ambience of the former Jewish district and the masterpieces of Polish Art Nouveau. Thanks to an amazing density and variety of bars, pubs, clubs and restaurants, Krakow sparkles with life. Anyway, there is no point in merely talking about its attractions. Everyone should see Krakow with their own eyes.

Uefa 2012 Games to be held in Poland and Ukraine

On Wednesday, April 18, the decision was announced by UEFA President Michel Platini at City Hall in the Welsh city of Cardiff, that the finals of the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship will be held in Ukraine and Poland after beating off bids from Italy and Croatia/Hungary. The UEFA Executive Committee of 12 members reached its verdict at the UEFA executive committee meeting in Cardiff after examining the three bids on the final short list to stage the tournament between Poland and Ukraine, Croatia and Hungary and Italy. Both Poland and Ukraine will stage matches in four venues each. The four Ukrainian venues are Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kiev and Lviv while Gdansk, Krakow, Poznan, Warsaw, Wroclaw, Chorzow have been earmarked for games in Poland.

Traveling within Poland

The length of local railways refers to about 21.1 thousand km. Polish railway transport looks like the most considerable among the other means of transportation. Trains are not expensive, fast and reliable. They also reach the most of destinations in Poland including small towns and villages. Polish railway stations offer the following International destinations: Brussels, Berlin, Budapest, Leipzig, Hanover, Bucharest, Prague, Kiev, Lvov, Vilnius, Vienna, Moscow, and Bratislava. Polish trains can be of 4 types. The fastest are Express and Intercity trains. Their destinations are only the larger cities. During the way they usually make not more than 2-3 stops. The difference between these types of trains is prior reservation for Intercity one. Another type is Fast trains. They stop in bigger cities and are not so fast as Intercity or Express. Fast trains are more suitable for a tight budget and they also require no seat reservations. Local trains stop at every station and are the cheapest type.

Places to visit in Ukraine

One important tourist attraction of Ukraine is the Crimean peninsula with its beautiful mountainous landscapes, unique climate and sunny beaches. This region has rich history and for long time it was a part of the Ottoman Empire. That is why in such Crimean cities as Bakhchisaray and Sudak there are numerous monuments of Ottoman architecture. Chufut Kale is a mountainous area covered with caves and fortifications preserved from the times of Crimean Khanate. In Sevastopol it is possible to see the monuments of the Greek and Byzantine epochs. Such cities as Yalta, Alupka and Eupatoria are known summer resorts which offer the tourists such attritions as botanical gardens, architectural monuments, vine festivals, as well as swimming, hiking, mountain climbing, etc.
